Do you want your child to experience the fun, education and social camaraderie of being in the marching band---but without the enormous time commitment of a school marching band? Look no further!
WHO WE ARE:
We have been providing music and leadership education to Pleasanton-area kids since our first lesson on March 19th 2010....and WE JUST COMPLETED OUR 167th PERFORMANCE! The Young American Patriots Fife & Drum Corps "YAPs" is an award-winning, performance-oriented NON-POLITICAL children's parade band dedicated to perpetuating the music, history & heritage of our nation's founding through musical education. We are based in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area of California (Pleasanton).
Members will learn how to read music, play the fife or drum, march, and eventually how to compose and write their own music in a fun, relaxed small-group setting.
FUN, FUN, FUN.
We have performed at many FUN and exciting venues, including the HP Pavilion park, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Jain Temple of Milpitas, Moscone Center, a San Francisco Venture Capital & Technology Tradeshow, and at the Alameda County Fairgrounds...and once we even chartered a yacht in Sacramento!
YAPs members have met and played for members of the US Olympic Team, a NASA Astronaut, the CEO of a social media start-up, a Hollywood movie director, many US military leaders & politicians, they have played at a charity polo match, at the opening ceremony at a baseball stadium...kids have even met & hung-out with the world-renowned musician & finalist from American Idol! We even video-conferenced with George Washington himself (or at least, an expert historian & actor dressed as Mr. Washington)!
Your children will have unique experiences here that will be remembered for a lifetime. YAPs hosts occasional guest speakers from the community as well, and we do numerous other educational and fun history & heritage-related activities. Families are welcome & encouraged to attend all events and activities.
